Forget Love. When It Comes To Creative Collaboration, All You Need Is TRUST.

Wearing many different hats in event production, as well as spending a lot of time on TV, commercial and film sets, has allowed me to make some observations about trust.

When looking for a creative partner to share your vision with, in my opinion, trust is everything.

Certain skills and qualities are required to build trust and have excellent collaboration. To establish trust you must be honest, consistent, competent, respectful and accountable. When choosing a creative partner, look for people with a shared vision, complementary skills, good chemistry and trustworthiness.

For all the reasons I listed above, I love working with the folks on the Tampa Bay production team, led by Charlotte’s Wray Ward Advertising and freelance producer Daniel Galalla. Together, two years and many jobs, we developed real trust and all that goes with it. The team excels at growing content assets by working on prep, shooting and editing, with each production stage feeding into the next.

The production process is full of idioms that may seem mundane at times, but make sense when seen in action. Expressions have real meanings. For example:

  • “We’re on a roll” – that’s a long winning spell.
  • “Nose to the grindstone” – working hard and constantly striving to improve.
  • “Go above and beyond” – Choices can be good things, being able to do more good things to make the work shine.
  • “Make the cut” – because great editing requires choices.
  • “The devil is in the details”- guess what? It’s all about the details. If you don’t have a “Plan A,” you don’t have a “Plan B” or “Plan C” that you absolutely need when challenges arise.

In essence, you can build stronger relationships, create exceptional work, and achieve more when you have confidence.

So, if you’re planning your next production and want it to be great, reach out and talk. Let me walk you through what you’re missing. Trust me, please.

And that, my friends, is a wrap!
